“VT-Kulissen-Tryptichon” (2007/08)

Die gebaute (Fake)Architektur (im Erlebnisbad Tropical Islands), die aufgedruckte Berglandschaft (auf dem Kühlturm eines ehem.Atomkraftwerk, jetzt ein Erlebnispark), die aufgemalte Fantasylandschaft (in Minimundus)... haben sie bei ihrer einmonatigen Erlebnistour(Deutschland, Österreich, Holland, Belgien) mehr interessiert, als das Eigentliche, die Hauptattraktion des jeweiligen Freizeitparks. In den gemalten Bildern ist die Core Attraction ausgeblendet, ist nebenan, nicht sichtbar. Was sieht man, was wird gezeigt?

Die Bilder können gelehnt, im Raum aufgestellt, oder gehängt werden – je nach Raumgröße und Settingwunsch.
Diese Möglichkeit der Bildinszenierung im Raum und die Wahl des Materials (Holz) erinnern an Kulissen.
Was ist nun echt, was  Kulisse, was eine Imitation oder Simulation? Stimulation durch Simulation?
Das Aufgemalte, das aus Pappmache gebaute, das Modellhafte, das Ausgestopfte rueckt in den Fokus und wird zum Eigenständigen,
zum Original. Die gemalte Abbildung der Nachahmung wird zum Original.

Catherine Ludwig investigates the theme of mass leisure as practiced by different generations and cultures, and the mechanisms of
mise-en-scene associated with it. She explores these artificial worlds and interrogates the illusions, packed in concentrated nibbles,
of which they consist.
For a whole month, the artist immersed herself in the world of illusions, going on an amusement tour of Austria,
Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The (fake)leisure architecture of the various amusement parks she visited was of more interest to her than their respective core attractions.
